The bottom line is people are amazing. Everyone brings something unique to the table. Our practice is to avoid exploitation or discrimination in any circumstance. We support local initiatives, so that the local entrepreneur benefits most.
Change comes when we value service, cultural understanding, environmental care and language acquisition. It is exciting to see what can happen when a young person realizes “It’s not about me” and serves the global family more fully.
There are limited resources in Asia, especially considering the large population. Environmentally speaking, on our experiential learning trips our aim is to leave very small footprints… or tire tracks. Small details are important, such as using 5-gallon refillable drums of water and bike bottles, instead of small plastic water bottles. In addition we carry all of our garbage to larger cities where they can handle it. There are several charities that we work with where we combine fantastic cycling and hiking with “hands on” helping within their focus communities.

All of our Experiential Learning trips have an option of up to three Action variables being Hiking, Cycling and Service combined with a Cultural, Historical, Environmental or Language dynamic. All our trip leaders are experienced, responsible and mature.

Pupils from our school have been going on this trip for three years now, and they always have a fantastic time with all the different activities, and learn a lot about themselves and the world around them!
I have worked with MT Bike Asia over the years (6 trips in total) travelling with students to remote regions in China, setting up social enterprises with local residents, and throughout the projects, MT Bike Asia has been a keen supporter and organizer.
